Spiritual Direction

Image Spiritual Direction involves a relationship in which one person assists another to recognize the presence of God in her/his life, to grow in intimacy with God, to express and develop that experience, and to make a deeper response to God and others in the context of her/his life and prayer. If you wish to meet with a spiritual director please call Weber Center at 517-266-4000 to make arrangements. Fee is negotiated with the spiritual director.

Betty Condon

Betty Condon, OP, a Dominican Sister of Adrian, has served as a spiritual director for over 30 years – six in ministry at Springbank Retreat Center in Kingstree, South Carolina, and 11 at Sea of Peace House of Prayer on Edisto Island, South Carolina. Betty presently resides in Adrian, Michigan as a spiritual director.

Mary Dewey

Mary Pat Dewey, OP, holds a master’s degree in theology from Catholic Theological Union; has updated her theology at Notre Dame University; and holds a certificate in spiritual direction from Mercy Center in Burlingame, California. Sister Mary Pat leads both preached and directed retreats. She has experience in spiritual direction with persons of diverse ages, cultures and sexual orientations, and with people with dementia. Previous ministries include justice and peace advocacy, parish ministry, and cross -cultural ministry.

Joan Ebbitt

Joan Ebbitt, DCSW, is a spiritual director and licensed clinical social worker. A former Adrian Dominican, Joan specializes in ministering to religious, clergy and others in their quests for experiencing the Divine. Trained at the Dominican Center for Religious Development, Joan walks with directees providing support, gentle challenges and encouragement as they encounter the mystery of our universe.

Therese Haggerty

Therese M. Haggerty, OP, a Dominican Sister of Adrian, holds a B.Ed. from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh; an M.Ed. from Xavier University, Cincinnati; and a certificate in spiritual direction from the Dominican Center for Religious Development in Detroit. Her career ranges from teacher to child care worker to guidance counselor to hospital chaplain. She has conducted directed retreats for 11 years.

Joseph Sc

Joseph Scheuring is a graduate of Kettering University and studied theology through the Pastoral Ministry Program at Sacred Heart Seminary in Detroit. After retirement he entered the spiritual direction internship program offered at St. Francis Retreat Center in DeWitt, Michigan. He sees men and women religious of all ages, as well as persons from various religious backgrounds. Joe has facilitated the Busy Person’s Retreat in Dexter, Michigan, for several years.

Janene Ternes received her training through the Ignation Spiritual Direction Program at Manresa Jesuit Retreat House, where she is a supervisor for the Spiritual Directions Internship program. Founder of Prayer in Motion, LLC, she also teaches prayer using movement and music to people of all ages.

Teresa Disch, OP, a Dominican Sister of Adrian, has been a spiritual director for 30 years, a facilitator/ supervisor for the Dominican Center for Religious Development Internship Program and a retreat team member. Teresa has a MA in Scripture/Theology from St. John’s University, Collegeville, MN; MDiv from Loyola University, Chicago, IL and a MSW from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI.
 

Ana Feliz, OP, a Dominican Sister of Adrian who completed her training as a Spiritual Director at the Dominican Center for Religious Development in Detroit, MI. Ana has served in this ministry for over 24 yrs. She has experience in preached and directed retreats as well as days of prayer in Spanish. She offers this service of Spiritual Direction in Spanish.
